Why Buy From a Home Cook?
A different way to find food and support a neighbor.
Food you can’t get elsewhere, from a person you can actually meet, in your own neighborhood.
Food you may not find anywhere else
Family recipes, regional dishes, holiday food, and personal interpretations that would never make it onto a restaurant menu. Home cooks bring the food traditions already living in San Diego County out into the open.
You know who made it
The person whose story you read is usually the person who planned the menu, cooked the food, and hands you the order. For many customers that connection is the point.
You are backing a small local business
A home kitchen permit lets an individual start a legal food business without a restaurant lease. Your order supports someone building skills, earning extra income, or testing an idea that may grow into something bigger.
Keep expectations honest
Home-cooked food is not automatically cheaper, healthier, more authentic, or better than a restaurant. Choose based on the cook, the menu, the inspection information, the service, the price, and what matters to you. Our job is to make finding and understanding home kitchens easy, not to promise the experience.
Different, not better by default. Try one and decide for yourself.
