Claim Your Listing
How to claim the directory listing for your permitted home kitchen and add your own profile.
Last verified: September 12, 2026
If you have a MEHKO permit, you are probably already here. Make the listing yours.
We built the directory from San Diego County’s public permit records. Right now your listing shows your business name, your city, and your permit status — nothing else. Claiming it lets you add everything a customer needs to order from you. It is free.
What you can add
- What you cook, in your words
- Menu with prices
- Photos
- Your story — where the food comes from, why you cook
- Days and hours you take orders
- Pickup, eat-in, or delivery (the delivery you do yourself)
- How to order: text, phone, Instagram, WeChat, your website
- Languages you speak
How to claim
- Find your business in the directory and click Claim this listing.
- Tell us your permit number and a phone number or email.
- We check the permit number against the County’s public record and text or email you a one-time code. Enter it and the listing is yours. (Permit numbers are public — they’re on your ads — so the code is what proves it’s really you.)
- Log in and fill in your profile. Takes about 20 minutes. See “Home Kitchen Profile Guide.”
- Your listing goes live as Claimed.
What we verify
Two things, separately:
- The permit — against SDFoodInfo.org. We recheck it periodically. If the County record lapses, the listing shows that.
- You — that the person claiming is the permit holder.
We do not verify your menu, prices, or photos. That is your word to your customers.
What you cannot change
Your business name and permit status come from the County. If the County record is wrong, correct it with DEHQ and it will update here.
The rules for listings
- Everything true. No claims of ratings, awards, or certifications you do not have.
- Only your approved menu. If the County has not approved a dish, it does not go on the listing.
- Your own photos of your own food.
- No “catering.” The County bans the word in any advertisement; that includes here.
- Your permit number and “Made in a Home Kitchen” appear on your listing automatically, as the County requires.
We can correct, hide, or remove a listing that breaks these rules. We will email you first, tell you what and why, and give you a chance to fix it. If you disagree, reply and a person will look again.
Do not want to be listed?
That is fine. Email support@myhomekitchens.com with your permit number, or text us, and we remove the listing within a week. We will not argue.
Your permit is public record either way. We just will not repeat it.
What we never ask for
Your Social Security number. Your home address (the County has it; customers get it from you). Your bank information. Copies of ID. If we do not need it to run the directory, we do not ask.
Cost
Free. If that ever changes, you will hear it from us before it happens, and unclaimed listings will stay free.
